As we have seen in the last week or two, the President of the United States has issued 23 executive orders aimed at restricting semi-automatic rifles in the country. Senator Feinstein is preparing national Gun Control legislation and In New York, Governor Cuomo and the Democrat controlled legislature has passed a sweeping package of gun-control measures — including a major expansion of the state's assault weapons ban. The new state law expands the definition of banned weapons to include semiautomatic pistols and rifles with at least one military-style feature. As a result, the Bushmaster AR-15 used in the shooting that killed 20 first-graders and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown would be banned. New Yorkers who own one of the now-banned weapons can either sell them outside the state or keep them. But if they keep the arms, they have up to a year to register them in a statewide firearms database being created. The NY law basically turns law-abiding citizens into criminals. The package also bans any gun magazine that can hold more than seven rounds of ammunition, down from the current 10 and failed to exclude police officers from the 7 round magazines, placing them in danger of being out-gunned by criminals. My guest for the first half of the show is Mr. LARRY PRATT, who has been Executive Director of Gun Owners of America for over 30 years. GOA is a national membership organization of 300,000 Americans dedicated to promoting their Second Amendment freedom to keep and bear arms. GOA lobbies for the pro-gun position in Washington, D.C. and is involved in firearm issues in the states. GOAs work includes providing legal assistance to those involved in lawsuits with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the federal firearms law enforcement agency.Mr. Pratt will give us his opinion of the current push for gun control in the USA.
