36 days ago we began our journey counting the costs of Real Discipleship. Now with only 13 days remaining it is time to step up our level of commitment. It is one thing to meet weekly. Most of us are comfortable meeting weekly. We can usually find 20-30 minutes a week to set aside for something we deem "worthwhile." Now we are raising the standard. Messiah walked and taught His disciples daily according to Mt 26:55; 14:49; and Lk 19:47. After His ascension did they then formulate that it would be best if they met weekly or bi-weekly? Of course not! They meet daily with the believers. How do we know this? Acts 2:42-47, 5:42, 6:1-4, 16:1-5, 17:16-17, 19:6-10...these are only the references in Acts. The real question here is this, “Are we satisfied talking about discipleship or are we willing to make the necessary changes or sacrifices in order to become a Real Disciple whose purpose is intentional disciple making?” Will our lives be interrupted? Absolutely. Will we be uncomfortable at times? Yes. If we are to follow the example of our Messiah when it comes to making disciples, we need to look closely at several key factors. 1. Who did He choose? 2. Why did He choose them? 3. What did He choose them to do? 4. Where did He choose them? 5. When did He choose them? 6. And how did He choose them? To do so let us look 1 at John 1:35-43, 43-51; Lk 5:1-11; Mt 4:18-25; and Mk 1:14-39. This will take us through the next 12 days as we investigate what happened so we can follow in His steps. In Simple Obedience...Larry.
